Body contouring has quickly become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Spending hours in the gym, following a strict diet is a healthy, making and good lifestyle choices doesn’t always yield the results you want.  Body contouring procedures allows you to specifically target individual areas of the body.

Here’s a breakdown for 2021 of the top trends and everything you need to know about body contouring.

What Is Body Contouring?

In the past, body contouring procedures were often reserved for those who had lost a significant amount of weight, but today, body contouring means doing procedures to increase the size of certain body parts while decreasing the size of others.

Weight loss can leave excess skin and stubborn fat deposits, and neither of these things can be treated with just diet and exercise. With surgical body contouring, these problems can be improved, creating a more defined, and tighter appearance.

The most common contouring procedures are tummy tucks, body lifts, breast augmentation, liposuction, and fat grafting.  Many times, these procedures are done together to give patients the body shape they desire. There are also nonsurgical body contouring procedures like Coolsculpting that eliminate small pockets of fat with no downtime.

Non-invasive procedures can be done in an office.  Minor liposuction and fat grafting can also be safely performed in the office under a combination of local and oral sedation.  Tummy tucks, body lifts, breast augmentations, and larger volume liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lifts are done under general anesthesia at an outpatient surgical facility.

2021 Trends in Body Contouring

While many of this year’s trends are non-surgical options, the results you are hoping for may involve something a bit more invasive, such as liposuction or fat grafting.  In many cases, liposuction and fat grafting can be done in the office, however each requires some recovery time.

Liposuction is still the most popular choice for removing unwanted fat; and when combined with fat grafting, or a fat transfer, the results are optimal.

If you think that body contouring is the perfect procedure that will finally help you achieve your goal body, schedule a personal consultation with one of our award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeons at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery, Drs. Jocelyn Leveque, Nathan Patterson, or Peter Butler.
