The lips and the tissue around the lips are often neglected in facial rejuvenation efforts. With facial aging, the upper lip tends to increase in length, resulting in less visibility of the upper teeth. Aging also causes a loss of lip volume and soft tissue volume around the mouth. In some patients, the corners of the mouth take on a downturned appearance, creating a baseline frowning appearance. Depending on an individual’s deformity and goals of treatment; peri-oral rejuvenation procedures usually involve fillers to treat volume loss and laser resurfacing to treat wrinkles and/or a corner of mouth lift to treat downturned corners of the mouth. Your doctor may also recommend an upper lip lift to treat excess lip length and fat grafting to treat volume loss
