The Best Ways to Treat Fine Lines on the Face

Published on August 23, 2019

When it comes to fine lines on the face, prevention is key.  Eating well, not smoking, staying hydrated and making other healthy lifestyle choices are definitely a good start.  However, at some point most people decide they need a little extra help to keep things looking their best. In our late 20’s and early 30’s we start to notice signs of aging, a wrinkle here, a line there.  Then one day you wake up and they have multiplied overnight! As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity. We start to see it on our face first. Thankfully, there are some fast and effective treatments that provide amazing results:

The fastest and easiest way to treat lines is Botox.  This miracle worker can be injected into precise locations throughout your face to make wrinkles disappear.  It takes just a few minutes to have it done and you can see the results within a few days of the treatment. The only downside to this wrinkle treatment is that it’s only temporary, typically lasting around 4-5 months.  It is very important to go to an experienced injector to make sure you get a result you love without any complications.

Another very effective way to treat fine lines is with microneedling.  The aestheticians at The Skin Care Center at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery use the Rejuvapen ® microneedling device.  With this pen-like device, the medical aesthetician creates “micro-injuries” in the top layer of the skin. As the body heals these microscopic injuries, it produces collagen, which plumps up the fine lines on the face.  We can incorporate Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, into a microneedling treatment. This is where we harvest your own PRP, which contains an abundance of growth factors, inject it into the skin and apply it topically.  This allows those growth factors to help boost your skin’s collagen production.  Patients see amazing results with a PRP Facial.

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the best ways to treat fine lines and wrinkles.  One of the best new laser treatments on the marketing is the PicoSure Laser. The PicoSure Laser is different than most other lasers used for skin resurfacing in that it requires no downtime.  Most lasers use a process of heating, which damages the skin and requires downtime for healing. The PicoSure laser uses rapid laser energy that creates a gentle wave of pressure to stimulate the body’s immune system, inducing collagen production. This collagen heals and plumps fine lines and wrinkles.

Fractional Laser  (sometimes called fraxel) treatments work wonders to reduce fine lines and give the skin more youth appearance.  We offer two types of fractional laser treatments: A one-time  ablative treatment and a series of 3-5 non-ablative treatments. The ablative treatment does have about a week or downtime. The non-ablative treatments only have a day or two downtime, but take longer to see results.     We can customize the treatment plan to fit your lifestyle and will consider your desired amount of downtime.
