Women are inundated on a daily basis with advertisements for products to help stave off the signs of aging. From topical treatments to surgery, it is hard to know what treatments work and which ones just make empty promises.

Most experts agree that aging around the eyes, the neck and the hands are the top three things that can give away a woman’s age. Fortunately, there are ways to combat the signs of aging in these area without surgery.

The eyes, neck and hands all have one thing in common and that is exposure. These parts of the body that are exposed to the sun and other environmental toxins all the time. All of this exposure takes a toll on your skin and leads to tell-tale signs of aging.

The eyes are the first thing people notice when they look at you. As we age, laugh lines (or crow’s feet) can develop around eyes. Many times, those lines are visible even when we aren’t laughing. Another part of the eyes that gives away our age are our eyelids. Drooping upper eyelids and/or baggy or sunken lower lids can make us look tired and older than we are. For facial aging around the eyes, there are a few different non-surgical options. Injectables are fast, easy and effective. A little Botox in the crow’s feet area is a great remedy for fine lines and wrinkles on the outer corner of the eye towards the temples. Botox can be used in combination with dermal fillers along the brow line to give the brow a bit of a lift. Another great new option for tightening that brow area is Ultherapy. This treatment uses ultrasound waves to stimulate the muscle and tissue on the face, stimulating the production of collagen. This gives a lifting and tightening effect to the treatment area. While the results aren’t equal to a surgical face lift, Ultherapy offers a noticeable improvement with no downtime.

Ultherapy is also a great option for tightening the loose skin on the neck. As we get older, we lose volume and our skin loses elasticity, by treating the neck and jawline area using Ultherapy we are able to successfully tighten the appearance of a droopy neck, taking years off of your appearance.

Another part of the body that shows significant signs of aging are the hands. One of the most common treatments for making hands look younger is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. An IPL is used to remove dark spots (also called sun spots or age spots) from the skin. For the fine lines and wrinkles in your hands, injectables are a great option. Dermal filler can be used to plump the hands, correcting volume loss. Plastic surgeons are also using fat transfer to revitalize hands. Botox can be used in the wrists areas to soften the lines at the bend of the hand.
