When it comes to looking young, the eyes have it! There are literally thousands of treatments targeted to protecting the eye area from the signs of aging. With all the serums, creams and gadgets on the market, it’s hard to know what to do, and which treatments to trust, when trying to combat crow’s feet, sunken eyes and droopy lids.

The eyebrows and upper eyelids are a significant issue when it comes to signs of aging around the face. As we age, we lose fat and collagen in the upper forehead, brow, and upper eyelid. This causes the forehead to wrinkle, the brows to lower, and the upper eyelids to droop. Here are some of the innovative techniques using injectable products and skin tightening devices that can combat the signs of aging in the eye area:

Non-Surgical Brow Lift
Patients who are middle-aged or younger, often do not require surgical brow lift and can see benefits from a non-surgical brow lift. This type of brow lift uses injectables including Botox and dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. Botox is used to relax the muscles that pull the brow down and lift the muscles that pull the brow upward. Using Botox in this manner give the brow elevation. This lift is generally a subtle, but can be combined with filler to give a better result. Injecting filler under the eyebrow can actually fill and lift a drooping brow.

Wrinkle Remedies
If forehead creases between the brows or crow’s feet are aging your face, injections of Botox are the fastest and easiest solution. Botox is made with a purified version of the botulinum toxin and, in tiny doses, this toxin causes the muscles to relax, releasing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox injections only take a few minutes, with it taking effect in about 3-5 days. Botox is a temporary wrinkle solution. When the Botox wears off and the muscles are able to contract again, these lines and wrinkles will reappear. Every patient is different, but most patients find that Botox treatments last 4-5 months.

Ultherapy
Ultherapy is one of the newest and most innovative treatments available for skin tightening. Ultherapy actually stimulates the body to produce more collagen. The loss of collagen is the reason for wrinkles. Ultherapy uses high frequency ultrasound technology to “heat” the deep layers of the skin, causing the skin to produce more collagen, which tightens, lift, and smooths the skin on the face, eyes, neck and chest. Droopy eyelids respond especially well to Ultherapy. You won’t see the final results for several months after the procedure, but the difference can be dramatic.
