How Does Botox Work?
Botox injections deliver a purified protein that blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, where it is injected. By reducing the nerve impulses in these muscles movement is restricted, preventing wrinkles in the skin.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?
Most healthy individuals ages 18 years old or above are good candidates for a Botox treatment. Patients who do not want to undergo a facelift procedure to treat facial wrinkles are especially ideal, since Botox involves no scalpels or incisions.
Candidates must have realistic expectations from the treatment. It is important that candidates do not have any active infections in the targeted areas. If an active skin infection is present, it must be fully treated before Botox injections can be performed.
What Happens During a Consultation?
