CoolSculpting is a great alternative to surgical fat-reduction procedures. It is very effective in reducing unwanted excess fat in various parts of the body. At Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery, we offer CoolSculpting in Pensacola for patients who are looking for effective non-invasive body sculpting.
What is CoolSculpting?
The unique CoolSculpting fat-freezing technology is a nonsurgical, scientifically proven way to reduce pockets of fat in trouble spots in as little as one session. CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to treat 9 different areas of the body:
- bra fat
- back fat
- upper arms
- under the buttocks
- under the chin
Learn How CoolSculpting Works
The number of fat cells is set during childhood and adolescence and varies little during adulthood. Some individuals may have stubborn pockets of fat that are more difficult to reduce despite diet and exercise. These stubborn pockets may vary greatly from person to person because we all carry fat in different areas of our bodies. It’s technical name is cryolipolysis, which is just a science-y way to say fat freezing. The experts at CoolSculpting spent years developing the treatment, which features one-of-a-kind technology that quite literally freezes and kills fat cells.
Proven science and real results. CoolSculpting’s fat-freezing technology gives long-term results that make trouble spots a lot less troubling. Fat cells don’t like the cold and at a certain temperature, they will freeze. Once that happens, your body will naturally eliminate the dead cells in 1-3 months or more, resulting in up to 20%-25% reduction of fat in a treated area.

Do I Need a CoolSculpting Consultation?
A CoolSculpting consultation is a vital part of the process, since it will allow you to communicate your aesthetic needs and goals. During your consultation, we will listen to your goals and examine your areas of concern.
We will also check your medical records, including information regarding pre-existing medical conditions and current medications. This will help us determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.
Next, we will present you with a personalized treatment plan. The details of the treatment plan will be discussed with you. We will explain the treatment process from start to finish, along with your expected results and the estimated cost. If you have any questions, we will address them to ensure that you’re ready for the treatment.
What Happens During a CoolSculpting Treatment?
The CoolSculpting session can last from 35 minutes up to more than an hour depending on the treatment plan and number of treatment areas. Anesthesia will not be needed. A gel pad will be placed on the treatment area. The applicator will then be used on top of the gel pad. A cooling sensation can be felt once the treatment starts freezing the fat.
During the treatment session, the patient can relax, read, watch TV, or even sleep. The patient may experience mild pulling, tugging, pinching, tingling, or aching during their first session.

CoolSculpting Important Safety Information
The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. Tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions including recent surgery, pre-existing hernia, and any known sensitivities or allergies. During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment. Rare side effects may also occur. CoolSculpting may cause a visible enlargement in the treated area which may develop two to five months after treatment and requires surgical intervention for correction. Please see full Important Safety Information for additional information. Results and patient experience may vary.
