There are some situations in which removing the implant and the entire scar capsule is the best option. If your implant is ruptured, doing an en bloc implant removal will keep the ruptured contents inside the capsule during the procedure, keeping them from spilling out into the breast pocket. However, there is usually no medical indication to remove a normal scar capsule. That said, if a patient wants the entire capsule removed with her implants, Drs. Fat is harvested from the abdomen, flanks or thighs. The fat is treated and then injected into the breast tissue. This adds a small to moderate amount of volume to the breast.
