The new year is here, and if you’re like many others, you have resolved to take better care of yourself.  When it comes to keeping your skin looking its best, many procedures can erase fine lines and wrinkles, evening out patchy spots, and tighten loose skin, making you look and feel refreshed.

Injectables

Botulinum toxins like Botox and the hyaluronic acid fillers, like Juvederm, are vital components in keeping your face wrinkle-free. Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle is unable to contract, causing wrinkles to soften and relax. Botox used on forehead lines and fine wrinkles around the eyes, known as crow’s feet.  The Botox “lip flip” is a quick and inexpensive way to enhance the lips.

While there are many types of dermal fillers on the market, the most popular contain hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are a real game-changer when it comes to treating aging without surgery.  Fillers are great for erasing vertical lines around the mouth, plumping and shaping lips, as well as restoring fullness to cheeks and under the eyes.

Lasers

There are a variety of different types of lasers that all treat various issues. Some lasers treat moderate and deep wrinkles. Other lasers can dramatically improve skin tone, texture, and tightness. Some lasers, such as the ablative fractional laser, remove the outer layers of the skin to treat fine lines and wrinkles.  There are also the less intense, non-ablative lasers that address a variety of skin issues with less downtime. An IPL or a photo facial is performed with light therapy to remove age spots, sunspots, and acne scars.

Ultherapy-Ultrasound Therapy

Ultherapy works by targeting deep skin tissue with ultrasound wave energy, which induces the production of collagen and elastin. Ultherapy treatments are great for tightening sagging skin anywhere on the body but are most often used on the face, neck, and chest.  Many patients who have had a surgical facelift look to Ultherapy to maintain and extend their results.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a skincare secret that has many benefits.  Microneedling devices create a series of micro-injuries to the surface of the skin. These injuries trigger the body to boost natural collagen and elastin production to help rejuvenate the skin, keeping wrinkles and lines at bay. This minimally invasive procedure can be combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for better results. It is an excellent treatment for acne scars, sun spots, large pores, and uneven skin tone.

If you’re looking to rejuvenate your face and feel refreshed in 2020, schedule a free consultation with one of our skincare experts at The Skin Care Center at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery to see which procedures will give you your best results.
